Queer Dogs Document San Francisco Pride 2010

Hello! My name is Rover Monroe, and I'm a short, brown dog with white ears. I live in San Francisco with my human, and I'm also queer.

So we headed to the Civic Center yesterday, and to Dolores Park the day before, to cover the weekend long outdoor party otherwise known as San Francisco Pride 2010...

I hope you will enjoy this photo journal, and would welcome any comments or reactions!(there aren't a lot of queer dogs out there who also blog)

That's me holding the official 2010 SF Canine Pride sign in the first photo, and that's me with my friend Sophie, below, just goofing around... heh heh... look at her, she's so excited about her rainbow necklace...

Sophie and I, along with many other queer dogs, spent the weekend capturing bold and inspiring photos, and sharing insights based upon how this moment of rainbow culture in our city intertwines with rainbows of other cultures in its most celebratory and lighthearted summer event.

The Weekend Before Pride

Relaxing and enjoying a restful weekend at the ocean the weekend before... a dog's favorite place to romp around.

Consuelo Scopes Out the Scene

Here's my friend Consuelo, checking out the scene from a yellow puppypack.

Consuelo Supports Queer Youth

Consuelo is an advocate for queer youth, and visited a couple of really cool organizations...

Community Alliance for the Ethical Treatment of Youth (CAFETY), a watch group for ensuring accountability and transparency of residential youth centers and the disabled community.

The Trevor Project, based in LA, provides a hotline for queer youth. They are trying to expand into the Bay Area, and looking for volunteers, if anyone is interested...

Rufus Consults with Puppy Pride Coordinator on the Ground

This is Rufus, one of the integral members of the PuppyPride Team. Here is a shot of him consulting with Peaches (not pictured), our fabulous Puppy Pride Coordinator (Peaches will appear later in this blog).

Rufus Admiring Leather Kilts and Tattoos

Local leather men posing for Rufus' camera. Rufus thought some of his gay human friends as well as straight female friends might enjoy this shot... ah, Rufus, always thinking of others :)

Rules Strictly Enforced

PuppyPride2010 is happy to report that these signs were totally effective in keeping the crowds from smoking or drinking on public property throughout the event.

Peaches Captures the Spirit

Peaches, our amazing PuppyPride Coordinator, smiles for the camera.
She captures the celebratory spirit of Pride in the photos below... enjoy!

Do Ask, Do Tell!

Zsa Zsa shows off her rainbow attire, and took this great shot of one of our men in uniform...
